Not Entertainment by Vizion
You don’t understand
This ain’t entertainment
No, excuse me
This isn’t entertainment
And sometimes my slave language kicks in
Reminding me from which I came
So even if I try to blend in
The color of my skin speaks out whenever something comes up missing
Do I just look like the type that can’t speak a complete sentence?
Well I’m tired of all these prevalent opinions of me
Which is why this is not entertainment
This is me exercising my right
To write, read, and learn because just years ago
It was illegal
It’s not about me saying these lyrical rhymes
Because my lyrical mind sees nothing but lyrical bars and mental cages
Because we’ve evolved from being the white man slaves to
Slaves of flat screen TV’s and touch screens
Everything we can’t afford
And no,
I am not angry but I’ll bang on these African drums
And scream that seven little word that has yet to come
F R E E D O M
Free us from generational curses and hereditary sickness
Every sickle cell anemia, diabetes, and crohn's disease must flee
I speak to every skitzophrenic and claustrophobic mind and I
Bind you in the name of Jesus
Because this is not entertainment
This is deeper than poetry
This is critically important
This is the race to save the mind or even a life
This is not UFC
This fight is not entertainment!
